A Look Back at the First Half of The 2024-25 Season

When the idea for DoGood first came to me in April of this year, I didn’t really know whether it would work. The idea of mobilizing a community that is thousands strong seemed gargantuan. But here we are, eight months later and nearly 300 community service hours in…together, we have changed lives in four communities around the country, completed 13 service projects - and that’s only for the first part of this season!

My team at DoGood and I could not have done this without YOU! YOU truly are what makes DoGood.

Thank you to all of our fencer-volunteers, who take time out of their incredibly busy competition schedules to give back to the local communities.

Thank you to all of the parents, who encourage their fencers to register for our volunteer projects.

Thank you to our local partners, who give us the opportunity to engage with the local communities.

Thank you to USA Fencing, in particular to Phil Andrews, Bryan Wendell, and Shannon Jolly, who have given us the support and platform that we need to rally this fencing community to do good at each NAC.

And finally, thank you to everyone in the fencing community who has encouraged us in our mission to provide opportunities for the fencing community to positively impact the world around it.

Thank you all for sharing our vision. Without you, we could not do the good we have done in the communities we’ve visited.

So, as we head into the middle of December and into all of the holiday festivities this time of year entails, let’s not forget to do good. Instead of “random acts of kindness”, which depends on happenstance for us to do good for others, let’s be intentional this holiday season about how we build up our communities. Let’s actively seek out opportunities to help each other out, whether it’s the elderly gentleman down the street who is feeling especially lonely this time of year, or the disabled neighbor who needs help putting up the holiday tree, or the single mom who could use a helping hand with the kids during these busy days. There are so many ways you can do good for your community; you don’t have to look very far.

Together, let's do good this holiday season.

My team at DoGood and I wish you the happiest of holidays, and we will see you in the new year at January NAC!
