Founded in 1980, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma began as a community effort to address hunger in Oklahoma City and has since grown to serve 53 counties across central and western Oklahoma. Its mission is to lead a network that provides nutritious food and pathways to self-sufficiency for people facing hunger, with a vision of an Oklahoma where no one goes hungry. The organization distributes food through more than 1,300 community-based partners and schools, providing assistance to children, seniors, and families experiencing food insecurity. In addition to distributing food, the Regional Food Bank provides programs focused on healthy food access, children, seniors, and connecting people with resources that can help them become more economically secure.

Volunteers will sort and pack food for a variety of Regional Food Bank’s programs, such as the Pantry Box, Food For Kids Backpacks, and CSFP (senior boxes).

Saturday, January 9th, 9:30 am - 12 pm

Minimum Age:

Volunteers must be 8+ to participate in this event.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer alongside their fencer if the fencer.

A DoGood parent will volunteer on this project.

Important information for volunteers:

Please arrive AT LEAST 5-10 minutes early to the volunteer service. Doors open 30 minutes before the project start, so you can come as early as 9:00 am.

Volunteers should wear shirts and pants and closed-toed shoes.  

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult (a DoGood parent will most likely volunteer with the group).

Maximum number of volunteers:

There is a maximum of 60 volunteers for each meal of this project.

Getting there:

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is 16 minutes from the convention center.

Convention Center

Introduce fencing to local youth! Teach area kids the sport of fencing in a carnival-style format. We need help setting up the carnival, staffing the booths, and general help during the carnival. If you love teaching other people how to fence, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

No prior experience with teaching or coaching is required - just a love of the sport and an eagerness to introduce others to fencing!

We need help with: 1) setting up, 2) staffing the carnival, and 3) cleaning up.

Saturday, January 9th, 1-2 PM (Set up)

Saturday, January 9th, 2-3:30 PM (Carnival)

Saturday, January 9th, 3:30-4 PM (Clean up)

Maximum number of volunteers:

There are no maximums! The more the merrier.

The event will be at the Convention Center!

OKC Beautiful is a nonprofit organization that has worked to improve Oklahoma City’s environment and appearance since 1962, when a city beautification committee was formed; it was incorporated as Oklahoma City Beautiful Inc. in 1968.  Its mission is to lead Oklahoma City’s beautification and environmental stewardship through collaboration, education, and advocacy. Through programs such as tree planting, litter cleanups, community gardens, environmental education, and sustainability initiatives, OKC Beautiful brings residents together to create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable community.

Volunteers will help clean and beautify Wiley Post Park by picking up litter. Help OKC Beautiful by making Oklahoma City a little bit better than when you arrived!

Minimum Age:

All ages are welcome to join! Volunteers under 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign a waiver upon arrival. A DoGood parent will volunteer on this project.

Important Information for volunteers:

Please arrive AT LEAST 5-10 minutes early to the volunteer service. 

Volunteers must wear comfortable closed-toed walking shoes for walking around grassy, non-paved areas. Please also dress in comfortable clothing that may get dirty, as this is an outdoor activity. Bring sunscreen!

Volunteers under 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign a waiver.

Maximum number of volunteers:

There is a maximum of 100 volunteers.

Getting there:

Wiley Post Park Pavilion is a 17 minute walk and 2 minute drive from the convention center.

On the day-of, please meet at the Park Pavilion.
